Yet Another Pyramid Head Paper Model

It seems like I haven’t been having the best of times lately. In the past few months I’ve had bird attacks, and lost bunny rabbits hopping around in the basement (*shudder*.) Also I’ve been suffering from these mood swings where occasionally I find myself inexplicably in a jolly mood (I know, I know, I should see my witch doctor about these laughing fits I’ve been having.) At times like these I look for some kind of escape, and what better way than to express myself creatively?

I don’t know what it is but I seem to be having way too much fun with these Pyramid Head Paper Models. This is the third one I’m posting. Here are the other two: Pyramid Head Paper Model number one. And Pyramid Head Papercraft number two. I’ve also been building other paper models, like this Hieronymus Bosch Monster Paper Model. I’ve also been checking out the paper models over at Ravensblight.

I found this papermodel over at the /po/ archives. It was very simple and took me maybe ten minutes to put together.

So I keep wondering, what is it about Pyramid Head anyhow? The people who made the Silent Hill video game were definitely on the ball when they created this character. I also really love the bubble headed nurses, and I’ve been thinking it would be fun to make a paper model of one of the Silent Hill nurses. Here’s a wikipedia page with the different Silent Hill monsters listed. I guess in Silent Hill Origins there’s a character who is very much like Pyramid Head in that he wears something on his head and carries a huge knife, but who isn’t the pyramid head. He’s called the butcher.

Here are the places the Pyramid Head shows up: Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill Homecoming (as the Bogeyman), The Arcade, and the Motion Picture. There is a creature that resembles Pyramid Head but is not in Silent Hill 3. They are creatures who hang by one arm and hold a doll in the other hand and have black heads, but don’t wear the signature pyramid helmet.

Well that’s it for today. Does anybody know where a monster can get more delightful Silent Hill Paper Models?

Another Pyramid Head Paper Model

I had so much fun building a Pyramid Head paper model in January that I decided to do it again. I found an interesting model by harlancore. The thing that’s really interesting is that you can take the helmet off of this one, which strikes me as being akin to pulling the curtain aside to reveal the Wizard of Oz or making the Elephant Man lie flat on his back. It just doesn’t seem right. Pyramid Head is one of my heroes. The Wikipedia page on Pyramid Head spends a lot of time talking about psychology and what possible meanings Pyramid Head could have to the characters in the game, and that’s all really nice, but while I admire him for having psychological depth, all that would be worthless without his strong work ethic, and the fact that Pyramid Head obviously takes time out of his day to really project his menace.

Something about the tongue here makes him look like he’s got a “Colombian necktie”. Kind of sick but somehow appropriate to the horror papercraft theme.

I really appreciate how there is a whole paper model culture online now. There are people everywhere designing papercraft models and posting them on the internet. It’s totally a great thing. They are inexpensive, and when you get a really good one, they’re fun to put together and then the paper models also look really great. I’ve been thinking that sometime I should write a post on tips for how to make a really good paper model. Things like how to score the pieces first and the best ways to cut out some of the more fiddly pieces of paper. I guess that’s for another time. In the meanwhile, enjoy this Pyramid Head Paper Model. Thanks for stopping by!

Pyramid Head Paper Model

I think sometimes when you’re a person who is as menacing as I am, people have a lot of preconceived notions. Like for instance, they might think I like to limp around with a hump on my back and that maybe a terrible accident has made my hands into horrible claws. Or maybe they think that years of crawling around in tunnels deep under the earth has blunted my senses. Well I’m here to dispel some of these stereotypes about things that bump around in the dark. We don’t just BUMP around in the dark all the time. We can be deep and sensitive and creative in the dark as well. This week I’m excited to share a paper model I made of Pyramid Head from Silent Hill. The original design is by Chamoo232 who has a lot of cool paper models on her site.

Pyramid Head from Silent Hill

I don’t know about you but it seems like pyramid head is a pretty insane character. I mean, for one thing, that knife is pretty huge. So a person ends up thinking the whole pyramid head things is Freudian. Pyramid head seems to be very popular. He appears in some of the Silent Hill games, but I guess mostly in Silent Hill 2. In the movie he shows up once dragging a body around, and then later, pyramid head pulls the skin clean off one of the characters, which is pretty brutal. I don’t know about you, but if I was walking down the street and saw pyramid head walking towards me, I might cross the street.

In Silent Hill 2, pyramid head seems to do quite a few awful things. For one, he seems to kill a few people, including Maria. He is also seen doing something kind of sexual looking but maybe not sexual in a kitchen with two Mannequin creatures. There are a lot of YouTube clips of that. For that matter, there are quite a few YouTube clips of various scenes with Pyramid Head. At one point there are two pyramid heads and they eventually impale their own heads on their own spears, killing themselves. Yes it is a wild and wooly world in Silent Hill.

I really like making paper models. I think I’ve talked about it before. When you’re making a paper model, you do a lot of cutting of the paper. And then also you glue the model together. Then you have a finished paper model. I have a bunch of papercrafts, from mummies to monsters. It’s very satisfying to make paper models, and besides the paper and the ink that you have to buy, it’s pretty cheap to make them too. I love making paper models!

Thanks for tuning in. This has been about the Pyramid Head Paper Model.
