Vintage Photo Album: Levitating Body Edition

I love old photos that are all messed up with cracks, spots, foxing, and holes. Sometimes I’ll scan a photo and clean up some of the flaws, and then I’ll think to myself: It doesn’t look as good. I love the duck in this photo, and the magician’s assistant. Auction Here (Ends 2/27)

  • Love the duck photo! I keep wondering about the exact nature of the trick. I’m guessing an empty box was sandwiched between two boards only for the top one to be whisked away to reveal…a duck!

Even more intriguing is the body language of the other two participants. The duck has a wtf expression on its face, understandably so. But why does the assistant look so dejected – and what on earth is the conjurer thinking about?
