I can hear the moaning from my attic lair already. “Luna Lovegood!?!” you ask? Well to be honest, the choice was between Luna Lovegood and Bellatrix LeStrange. Let’s talk about the finer points. Bellatrix is crazy, dangerous and loves to scream about how she killed this or that person, and that’s fine. She also cuts a great pose with her mad eyes and crazy hair.
BUT…
I know. I know. She’s about 200 years too young for me, but let’s be serious: Luna Lovegood is Really Weird. She has a name that really belongs to the deadly romance interest in a James Bond movie. She sees things that other people don’t. She doesn’t freak out at the sight of blood. She talks about weird things all the time. (Hm. She’s sounding a lot like all my exes.) To Harry Potter and the world, she is a secret sharer and an anchor in that dark place where nothing makes sense. She also has an animal hat and looks like a fairy. MMMMMMM. Yes, sometimes that marginalized strange girl who “sees things” turns out to be right in the end.
Besides, those funny glasses make me confused and excited. Hey lady, why don’t you look my way? Have you seen too much with those x-ray eyes?

I fell in love with Luna the second I read of her in the books. Forget the movie I was already hooked. Fred and George may make people laugh with pranks but Luna goes way farther then that. She is smart, wise, witty and wonder filled. If I ever met a girl like that I would try my darnest to make her my wife for life. This girl could explain the great wonders of the world, make you grasp it and laugh your fool head off at the same time.
Never anywhere have I found a person of her state. She willingly disarms people with Gnargles and Snorkouts all the wile she reads you like a book.
I see her as knowing the kids took the stuff all along but the Gnargles was just an excuse not to blame. She truly loves everyone the other side of Lastrange (who was mad and wanted the world dead bragging each time she killed.) Luna loved and didn’t mind letting people know she cared and held no grudge.(It’s all good fun.)
I know lovely Luna is a fictional girl. I know if she was real she would be young enough to be my kid, but never if I knew her for a thousand years would that girl be mean or a boar. WOW!
Tennery,
Men never ask women with Luna personalities to get married… Generally guys who appreciate girls like that are too shy to even talk to them. From my own experineces being a goofy independent wackadoo a bit between worlds i can say it mostly intimidates people. Honesty especially in the face of adversity scares the shit out of most people.
” Your ugly and your momma dresses you funny!”
Luna is bar none my favorite character from the books and the movie and they did SUCH a good job casting her for the movies.
I had to laugh because that was so like me at that age, total outcast resigned to my fate with NO clue as to why the other kids picked on me.
It’s interesting looking back as I am 33 now and I must say if your one of the ” weird kids” and you don’t let the world break you ya get to be a totally kick ass grownup. I think I turned out pretty good but even more so I’m impressed how some of the other people I know have grown up.
