Maximilian Schreck was born on the 6th of September, 1879 in Berlin, Germany. Although he started as a theater actor, and later starred in a great number of films, it appears that he is most famous for playing a vampire. His role as Count Orlok in F. W. Murnau’s Nosferatu, a Symphony of Terror continues to be shown and celebrated by movie lovers everywhere. Legend has it that Murnau felt Schreck was terrifying enough that all the makeup he needed was pointy ears and teeth to complete the transformation from man to vampire. Schreck died Frebruary 20, 1936. Happy Birthday Max Schreck!
