Top Secret Mission

Just a quick note that I am on a trip in Europe with a brief stop in the land of Fairy. *shudder* hopefully I will return in 2 weeks. I had expected there to be more Internet connections here!

Some fairy tale mermaid apologists have tried to characterize the homicidal tendencies of mermaids as simple forgetfulness. The mermaids attract the humans and then “forget” that they can’t breathe underwater as they pull them down into the murky depths. Look at this mermaid. Does she look forgetful?

This is M is for Mermaid 3. Click here for M is for Mermaid 1 and M is for Mermaid 2.

Queen of Darkness 4: Coraline’s Other Mother

This the fourth Queen of Darkness post. Check here for more information on Queens of Darkness.

OK OK you regular readers must have seen this coming a mile away. If I’m going to name my top nine dark ladies of 2009, isn’t it natural that the lovely Other Mother make the list? I mean, I’ve basically built an Internet Shrine to the lady monster. Not only is she beautiful, but she gets more and more beautiful as the movie progresses. Add to that her collection of children’s souls, and some magical powers, and BAM! you’re talking about a couple handfuls of lady monster. Yes sir.

Pin-Up of the Week: Le Dr. Mabuse – 1922

1921 Dr Mabuse - Fritz Lang

Digging deep into the archives for some special somethings while I’m on vacation overseas. Movie posters! I think this is from Fritz Lang’s Dr. Mabuse, but I’m not sure.

Queen of Darkness 3: Comtesse de Wurzeltod

This the third Queen of Darkness post. Check here for more information on Queens of Darkness.

If you aren’t aware of Wurzeltod, a name we suspect has something to do with carrots and death, you’re in for a treat because Suzanne G., a.k.a. Wurzeltod has been amassing an online collection of the odd, grotesque, and wonderfully black for at least as long as the internets have moved though tubes.

I don’t actually have much else to say here because the very breadth and depth of “Giving Taste a Bad Name Since Kindergarten” is quite enough. Although I do have to say that if you’re short on time, you can just follow the WurzelTumblr. It’s AWESOME!
